What We Demand In Life

What we demand starts by setting boundaries with others and ourselves. The boundaries we set can range from how people treat us to how we want to live our life. Setting boundaries within yourself is about creating a line that no one can cross. In today’s blog, I will share a short story on how I had to reevaluate my boundaries and how you can make sure that you and others do not cross the line you set.

The story occurred on a weekend when I received my first rough draft of my business logo. It was nothing I could have thought of by myself. I had a completely different idea of how I wanted it to look, but this concept of a bird with its wings in flight was very interesting. I thought for a moment. I asked myself if I was settling for this new logo or if it was the one I wanted to go with.

Though I loved the logo, something was missing. My graphic designer asked me if I wanted the logo to be more realistic or more of a silhouette, and I told him realistic was fine. Still, I immediately changed that thought process two hours after talking with him. I spoke to some people about the logo and asked what they liked and what could be improved. I was able to get some sound advice and began to change the way I was thinking. One of the many conversations I had was with one of my friends. He showed me what I should be looking for in the final product.

My friend was a master in design. He had his own business creating logos for people and had an amazing portfolio. He told me that my logo should be exactly what I wanted. He said that I should feel proud of the logo when I look at it because it means more than just a circle and a bird. The logo represented the company I would stand for and be committed to its growth. I didn’t think of it that way at first, but he told me that I should demand the logo to be perfect before associating it with my business. The logo only had to be perfect in my eyes. I wanted it to tell a story without a word being spoken.

For that story to be told, I had to demand that the final result be certain. It had to be something I would be proud to represent and brandish to the world. I want to make dreams come true, and it starts with your choices. You have to decide if you are satisfied where you are in life or do you want something more significant. We are born into this world only to struggle through different points in our life, but the end can be glorious if we put forth the effort.

I wanted people to start to dream and achieve those dreams. I also wanted them to demand great things for themselves. In life, you will see people who demand great things and others who just let life happens to them. Only when a person is ready to achieve and become successful will they. You can not get to your most sought-after life by remaining stagnant. You must flow with vigor and deliberateness to your goals. In short, when you demand excellence, you will receive and revel in it. The boundaries you set will help create that point to hold true on your journey and direct you to your most desired life.

We must learn to demand greatness because settling is not for the mighty. If we look at history, we have examples of people like Alexander the Great and Marcus Aurelius, who, through the ages, made a name for themselves. What made these men great? Perhaps it is because they were natural-born leaders, or maybe they had this special thing inside them, but the truth is we all have that special thing. Both of these men started by creating great expectations for themselves. They also demanded a certain level of care, respect, and authority. These men reached high points in their life, and we can reach them too. Our lives are not filled with fighting and war like these men, but each day we fight our own battles.

To start demanding better things in your life is not wrong. You must constantly be setting your standards for yourself and others. I knew I had to work at demanding greatness and maximum effort initially. I started to not worry about what others and the world thought of me anymore. I wanted to love myself and set standards and rules for myself. No one, including myself, would breach that boundary. That mindset alone has helped to propel me closer to where I want to be. I do not look at how much I have left but at how far I have come. I am excited about what’s around the corner, but I will not lose focus on the moment I am currently in. My life and being are here in the present, and I walk deliberately toward my future. Let today be the day you demand greatness to be in your life. You will begin to notice how love, power, and wealth enter your life so that you can transform into your most amazing self.
