The Subconscious Mind

The Subconscious Mind is the part of the mindset that we don’t tend to focus on. Our subconscious mind is going to be dealing with the underlying thoughts and urges we feel. It can be challenging to work on your subconscious mind without help from a Life Coach or therapist to help you uncover what is genuinely going on in your mind. Working on this one area is enough to change your whole life for the better. If real change is what you are seeking, then addressing your subconscious mind will be critical. In this blog, I will be talking about the subconscious mind and the benefit you can receive if you learn how to listen to it.

The subconscious mind is the whisper, whereas the conscious mind is the shout. However, that whisper drives the conscious mind more than we may be led to believe. The conscious mind is simply dealing with the choices that we make aware of ourselves. The best way to describe the subconscious mind is like a craving. If you are ever in the mood for something and it stays on your mind, your subconscious tells you that you want something. Now. You will need to make a moral choice to get what your subconscious mind is requesting, but that urge tends to be strong.

When it comes to the subconscious mind, it can be demanding and deceptive. Have you ever wondered why it is difficult for a smoker or alcoholic to give up their substance? Yes, some will be about the chemical imbalance created in their body and the body’s urge to fulfill that need. Though this does hold some truth, why can some people quit cold turkey, and others have to try quitting multiple times before they can get something to stick? One of the biggest reasons for this is the difference in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has a learned behavior (a habit), knowing it can get what it wants.

The same is true when dealing with things you want in your life. The dream you have of winning the lotto or becoming rich will be something you hold in the subconscious mind. That is why saying you will be a millionaire is not believable by some. It is because they had that thought before, and it didn’t happen. The subconscious mind will be honest with you, but that realness is just fakeness that is dressed us as a lie and an obstacle. When this is the case, it is essential to find a new belief for the subconscious mind, or you will continually find yourself in a rut. Motivation workshops do a good job of sparking your consciousness but do not do much for your subconscious mind. For that, you will have to invest in a private life coach to help you dive into that area.

The main reason people fail is due to a poor mindset. From lack of planning to the act of being pessimistic, your mind plays the role that you set up for it. Like how you may see a glass as half full or half empty, the same is true for your mindset. The subconscious mind acts on a similar thought pattern as seeing something as possible or impossible. The subconscious mind will be the beliefs of others if you do not have a strong mindset. Those beliefs will dictate whether something can be done or not. These are the people who tell you that what they believe to be impossible should be your belief too. Even if you can prove them wrong, the subconscious mind will operate on wisdom and thus resulting in the same belief as the naysayer.

Understanding your current subconscious mind is the first step to changing it for your betterment in life. If you are the type to believe that something is impossible because they tell you that is the case, then that is your subconscious mind. If someone says that it cannot be done and you are eager to find your truth, then that is your current subconscious mindset. I will never forget the day when I was still teaching; another teacher told me a child couldn’t do something. For me, that was a challenge I was not going to back away from. It took only 30 minutes for me to revert this child’s mindset to that of a doer. You see, a child is naturally optimistic. As adults, we should not teach pessimism to children because those limits will become their beliefs. That is why I do what I do.

To go beyond your limits, you must start to strengthen your subconscious mind. Simply telling your subconscious mind will not make it brave. It is a series of small increments that will add up to bravery. That means if you are afraid/nervous/shy, you have to do things that have you work on the areas you are not confident in. Remember, the act of confidence comes first, then spirit follows. The same is true for the subconscious mind. If I ask you to bench 400 lbs and you cannot even bench 225 lbs, your subconscious mind is already firing off, saying that it is impossible. However, if I work with you to lift 225 lbs, then 250 lbs, and so on until we reach 400 lbs. That is what the subconscious mind needs to get over the block of it, not believing it can do something.

The process is similar when dealing with addictive substances. You have to ween it off for the best chance of success. Yes, some people can go cold turkey, but the people who have tremendous success are the people who take the small steps to ensure victory. Instead, I would take time to be methodical in approaching my subconscious mind and then try to lie to myself. That is why you will not believe me if I say you can be a millionaire tomorrow. Well, can you, yes, but the subconscious mind will not think that, so it will either keep being a hope or dream until you give up or double down. Whatever you decide, understand that the subconscious mind is going even without your consent. It tells you things right now to do that may or may not be conducive to your life’s plan.

The life you want is on the other side of your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind will give you the final push or encouragement needed for success to manifest. The student who a teacher told him he could not do something caused him to believe it. It took a teacher like me to tell him that he was told a lie and change how he operated. What people need is that moment when they realize how powerful they are. That moment when they know they can accomplish any task, they set their mind to it. However, it may not be what it takes to operate at the high level of others; at least they know where they stand. Knowing what you are good at and where you are weak is something good to understand.

In closing, your subconscious mind may be the answer to all of your problems. If you are having a difficult time in any area, you just have to see which side your subconscious mind is leaning toward. If you notice that your mind is negative or other people easily convince it, it will benefit you to work with a life coach to get out of that thinking. The goal should be for you to think it is possible and attain it because it is possible. If you were looking for a book to read about your subconscious mind, I recommend Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich. The benefit of having control over your total mind is the ability needed to reach your most desired life.
