How to Pivot to a Strong Mindset

Often times we can form habits, whether they be good or bad. Those habits that we develop will have a direct correlation to the life we manifest for ourselves. You may be at the point where you have a routine that is structured and comfortable, but that alone will not get you the results that you seek. You should seek a life where problems and hurdles cannot stop you. These types of moments can be the best learning experience you could ask for. Making mistakes and failing is not the problem in life; it is giving up. If you fail to learn, then good, but if you fail and quit, not so good. In today’s blog, I want to share with you how I pivot when I feel stuck or am having to lack progress.

The pivot method is how you should approach problems, complacency, and failure. The problems you have in life can be of any size, but you should focus on creating a solution for the problems you have. I believe that there is always an answer to a problem you are facing. It might not be what you want, but anything good is worth the sacrifices. Yes, you may have to sacrifice some things in order to make strides toward progression. If that means you have to give up something to resolve the issues you are facing, it is important that you learn how to pivot. To pivot at a problem means you are looking at the problem from another vantage point. You are looking for a solution to resolve the discrepancy that has taken over.

In order to be in control of your problems, complacent mindset, and failures, you must acknowledge the attempts you have made. This means that you have to look back at your action and the result. If your actions did not produce the desired result, then you must make an adjustment, a pivot. This is when you try something new or “mix it up.” If you have the same mundane life and are thinking that life has become stale, then it is time to pivot. Allowing yourself to pivot when you feel stuck or at a wall can be the change you need to get back on the path of progression. How you pivot can be trial and error at first, but if you can follow the method I am about to share with you, then you could get past any hurdle that you encounter.

  1. Identify where you want to be

  2. Look Back at your actions.

  3. Do not repeat the same actions that have proven to offer you no benefit or progression.

  4. Develop a system to follow (Action Plan)

  5. Become Relentless

The pivot method helps to identify where you are. You should ask yourself a series of questions that can help you identify that. What is the problem? Am I doing my best? Why am I not putting in a more consistent effort toward my goals? Where do I want to be? What is stopping me from my goal? Am I stuck and uncertain about what is my next move? At this point, self-doubt might start to kick in. You may feel that you are unable to accomplish any difficult task/goal. Your brain is basically trying to trick you into giving up because it is aware the amount of energy/time you put in was not enough to produce the desired results. Now you are convinced to give more than you have just given because the same fate awaits you, but it is you who creates your own destiny.

Once you understand where you are and find the areas in your life that need attention, then you can create an action plan. Developing this type of system can help you focus on the set goal. (It is important before you create your system/action plan to stay away from past mistakes). If you create a plan without knowing the factors that caused you initially to fail, then you have a higher probability that you will repeat those negative actions and end up with the same result. This is where people struggle because they try to do the same thing again and again to no unveil. They eventually chalk it up to an excuse and give up. If you can come up with an action plan that is different than your previous one, then you are creating a higher probability of success. Though it may not come instantly, you cannot keep running into the same wall and wonder why you are not making any progress. You have to pivot and approach your issues from a different direction.

In order to make your change a permanent one, you must become relentless toward the goals you set. Anything you put your mind to, you can accomplish. The secret is to start today and not give up. For example, if you created a workout/diet plan and you see amazing results in the first three months, then it is important to keep it up. Now, if you hit a plateau in the next three months and see no progress, then that means you have to pivot. If you fail to pivot in time, then you run the risk of giving up because what you are doing is no longer working. So instead of doing the same thing you have been doing, you must pivot and change it up. Changing how you approach your action plan can have massive benefits in reaching the best version of you. You just have to define your goal and continue to create a movement toward it.

Though pivoting can be a trial-and-error step, it is important to keep moving. Once you create momentum for yourself, it is important to keep it going. A pivot can be more than just your actions. A pivot can be a change in who you hang out with, your environment, or even a career choice. The goal of pivoting is to help you keep the momentum you have built up in order to tackle your goals. What you allow in your life should elevate you. Make sure to take time to write out all you are and have been in your life. Then look at who you want to be. Are your current actions going to help you be that future self? If no, then pivot. If yes, become relentless for the change you seek in your life.
