Super-Power on Demand

We are all superheroes in our own right. People have skills that others dream they have and lives that they wish they could live. The great news is that we all share a potential for great things in our life. Having an understanding of that alone can make you powerful! Just like the mind can envision and then attain, so can we reach and behold the life we go after. I started to ask myself, “How does one get to the places they want to go?”. I realized that it takes more than action and a willful mindset to get you to your most desired life. It will require you to rise above everyone around you and lead the way. That concept leads me to wonder why we follow leaders, pop icons, Hollywood stars, and superheroes. In this week’s blog, I want to re-awaken your desire for more in this life and how you can summon a superpower that can help you reach your highest potential.

A superpower on demand is the idea that you can make anything happen right now. When I think of a superhero, I see an individual that goes against the odds with the mindset they will come out victorious. I am currently reading a book on the subconscious mind, and it is fascinating what the mind/body can do for us if we do not get in the way. The body can conquer the odds that the mind limits daily. Nowadays, if I find that my weaker self wants to come out for the day, my stronger self is not going to remain silent. When I am inactive or not as productive as I should be, my mind is yelling at me. It is telling me it is not time to rest yet or to take it easy. It is time to work! It took me several years to get to this place, and it is something that needs consistent work/effort to maintain.

With the work that I want to accomplish, I must tap into any latent powers I have within me. When I accomplish any goal that I set for myself, it makes me more ambitious toward the next set of goals I create. I make them bigger and more challenging than any previous goals I have set before. What that has done for me is to consistently raise my quality of life and show myself that if I want something bad enough, then it can be mine with hard work, dedication, and positivity. However, before I reached this place in my life, I had to do much soul-searching. I had to strengthen my skills and acquire more tools to be able to handle the different challenges I would face in life.

The most beneficial tool I have gained is dealing with the idea of mindset. Just knowing that I have control over my body was enough to use my body as a mechanism to propel my life forward. My most used tool when it comes to addressing my mindset is the use of affirmations/mantras. I have a blog on that already, so if it is something you are interested in, then here is the link (https://www.revenconcepts.com/blog/2019/7/19/the-power-of-mantras). The mind will either make you or break you in life. You have to be careful what you tell it daily. You have to choose what thoughts you allow to rummage in your skull and choose actions that will benefit you in all your endeavors.

I remember one summer when I would go to football training with my brother and run around the track. When I first started running, I would stop frequently. Eventually, I gained enough stamina to run a mile without stopping. Well, one day, after training in the morning with my brother, I went home and drank a two-liter cream soda. Well, I knew soda was not good for me, but I let my weaker self indulge in this treat. The next day on the track, I was not even able to run half a mile before I had to stop. It felt like I was going to pass out that day. I asked myself why did I stop and not continue until I reached the mile mark. The reasoning I told myself back then was that I had the soda the day before, and it made me out of shape.

When I look back at the day after drinking that soda, I realize two things. The first was the belief in my mind that drinking soda would get me out of shape. The second is that there is scientific research showing the negative effects high-fructose corn syrup has on the body. It was a perfect storm in my mind that day. I gave in to a craving, which led to me choosing failure over success. I was not alone in my order of thinking. People have the same mindset where they go out and live a life beyond their means. They choose pleasure before greatness, and I have found that to be a kryptonite in unveiling their latent superpowers.

The mind is powerful, and it can be your greatest asset in life. What would you do if you could turn your mind into a superpower on demand? Would you try to take over the world? Would you try to have a life that is more than what you have right now? Or would you simply let it go to waste while you continue a complacent life? The choice is yours for what you want to accomplish in life. What type of focus do you want to direct toward your dreams/goals? I choose to be more each day and better each year. All it took for me to get started was a change in my mindset.

The body can also be used as a superpower to help reach a goal. I find that even if you push yourself mentally, you will have limits due to your body. That is why I encourage others to strengthen their body when they are reinforcing their mind. If you have learned about the body’s mechanism for fight or flight(adrenaline rush), then you might be familiar with the power it can bring. First, some science is needed on adrenaline. It is the body’s automatic response to protect. Whether your body chooses to protect itself or someone else will depend on your mental state. What is guaranteed to happen is the body will push past its limits for the given scenario. There have been cases where people have lifted cars in the heat of an adrenaline rush. We could call this a superpower alone, but it is something the body does automatically.

What adrenaline also does is create a more focused type of seeing/thinking. Adrenaline helps to strengthen the body and mind to use a pinpoint focus to solve a given problem. That problem does not have to be dangerous all the time. Imagine if you could use an adrenaline rush to accomplish your most ambitious goals. What would you go after first? What problems would you be able to solve due to a higher focus and willingness towards a goal?  I can only imagine what people could start to attain if they reached this power. Like I said earlier, we can all be superheroes in our regards. All that needs to be done is to bring it out more often.

The last area you can use to attain your superpowers on demand will be how you see yourself. I believe we have multiple versions of ourselves that we create throughout life. We have versions we show people(the world), a version we show our close friends/family, and we have a version we hide from everyone but ourselves. I always ask my clients, “Which version of you is the version that will help you reach your most ambitious goals in life?”. Asking that question does many things for them. The first is they can find out which version will help get them the life they want. The next question is, “What version do they tend to be in the most?”. As you can imagine, if you are in the version that will give you the life you want, then you have a greater chance to reach your goals. What I often see is that people are stuck in a version of themselves that offers them no benefits in life. That is why I tell them to add one more version that will help them to be more than they are right now. This new version is a blend of what you show the world and what you hide from everyone. Eventually, this will replace what you show the world and create a new version of what you hide.

The reason why many people do not have this version yet is that they are not willing to allow their true selves to be mixed in with what they want to show the world. More often than not, people struggle with being accepted. People want to be useful, and they want to be liked. I have found wanting to be liked to be one of the biggest distractions/obstacles in my life. If you are worried about being liked more than you are worried about making a purposeful impact in your life and on the world, then maybe some soul-searching is in order. I do not know a person who is not happy with their life that would not take an opportunity that has the chance to change their life for the better. If you are in a great place in your life where you do not feel like growth or change is necessary, then more power to you. I choose to live to a certain standard in life where I am always learning/growing.

I have found that success for me is giving my all each day. It is tapping into my higher self each day and going after my dreams. I challenge myself each day to be stronger and better than I was yesterday. To me, that is my greatest superpower. With that power, I can not only change my life, but I can also change the life of the people around me. I believe we all have a sort of superpower within us. We all have the superpower to accomplish great things in life, and that power can be tapped into instantly. We have to stop waiting around for someone to save us and be our superheroes in life.

Being able to tap into your highest self each day can be the greatest benefit to your future self. We should allow this rush of energy/focus to take over, so we can accomplish wonderful things in our life. Create a superpower that will help you envision a goal and set out to accomplish it. If you can envision what you want, you can start to attain what you go after. Wishing and hoping will only get you so far in life. Though it feels nice to dream about the good life, we must have action along with those dreams. They say, “Dreams without action are only dreams.” If that is true, then allow yourself to be the savior of your life. Let today be the day you start to create a mindset that is omnipotent and determined to reach newfound heights each day. What superpower will you create to attain the life you want to live?
