One of my most recent projects and investments was the addition of a garden in my backyard. I suppose the simple method of having fresh veggies is to just go to the farmer’s market. However, I was looking for an opportunity to watch these plants grow each day. I put in many hours and days of work to set up my garden. Now, I have to wait for a future date to reap the harvest of my work. Each day when I water and care for the garden, I am filled with joy and hope for what will soon come my way. I am not only ecstatic for the day of the harvest but also for the journey to get there. They say that having a garden is believing in tomorrow, so I make sure I do all that I can today for it so that it will have growth for tomorrow.
Having this idea in my head allowed me to smile at my future. I am in no rush to get to my goals or harvest because the journey is so sweet in itself. The labor of carting 50 loads of dirt from the front to the back was no easy task, but I was grateful for that opportunity. The garden was more than just a project I started. It was a deeper understanding of life and how one’s view can change when one does the work from the bottom to the top. From building the plots, I put the dirt in to planting the seeds and watching them sprout. The joy of the future has never been more present.
I look past my garden and see many other great things happening in my life. My love life gets stronger each day, great things are happening in the world, like the reopening of gyms and restaurants. Normal is starting to take over again, but how many people are gearing up for that day? That day when things are good, and your harvest is plentiful? I would like to think many, but I know that is not the case. I know many people are still struggling to make ends meet, and once things go back to “normal,” those people will hit the ground in a fray. They will do all they can to catch up, but the days past are now long gone. What you could have done will have to be what you can do.
Having the perspective of making today your best day and doing all you must for a better tomorrow sets you up to win on many different levels. I can imagine it would be challenging to try to get everything done at the last minute. I do my best to avoid this hurdle many of us tend to place in our lives. We put things off until a later date or when the criteria are perfect. I can tell you that there is no more perfect time to start something than now. Whether it be the planning or the groundwork, you can start to make progress. You have to make use of the time given to you today because once this day is over, you won’t get it back. Continually putting things off for a later date slows down your forward progress, so you must find ways to stay motivated.
The way I keep myself motivated is to understand that I can be better tomorrow if I am my best today. This simply means that you cannot hope tomorrow you will be in the best shape or feel the best. You must want that for your life right now. You must believe in tomorrow if you want to achieve new heights. I make sure that I have my goals planned out well before my next moves. I make sure that I know what must be done and by when because without that order and those deadlines then, I would be waiting until the day I got my life in order. I believe you can make the changes you need in life to take immediate action on things you would often put off or procrastinate.
I know 2020 has not been the best year for many, but there is no point in giving up the rest of the year. I am sure you already hear people talking about how next year will be better than this one. What does that thinking do to your mindset? That thinking puts your life on hold until a certain date you gave yourself. You just gave yourself permission to be lazy and put things off. People are really good at making excuses, but when it comes to owning up and rising to the challenges of life, many people would rather let life just have its way with them. Though this is a way many people choose to live, it doesn’t have to be the way you live.
If you are one of my Instagram followers, I have been sharing many pictures of growth and life with my audience. I want to remind everyone that the world has not forgotten how to be beautiful. The flowers still bud and bloom into beautiful sweet aromatic flowers. Have you had the chance to admire nature for all of its beauty and hope? I know being locked in and scared has many other things on your mind, but your future should be something you are always working towards. Be sure not to place your happiness in the future because that is something that will only be truly present in the current moment you are in.
For your future, I want the best for you, but that alone cannot make it come true. You have to want a bright and fulfilling future just as much as I want that for you. You must work when you don’t want to and keep going when you want to give up. You must be motivated beyond belief and take away any negative thoughts that may be floating around in your mind. Create affirmations for yourself that good things will come into your life and that you will be someone great. The more you can reinforce this then, the stronger your will to achieve what many others have not. That is a future filled with delight and prosperity, and it was all due to your hard work today.
Believing in the future can be a great start to creating a positive mindset. Whether you start a garden, start learning a new language, or go for a run, you can make a transformation happen in your life. You will not see the results the same day or even the same week, but over time with consistency, you can reach your goals. When you do arrive at your destination, be sure to have already set new goals, destinations, and ambitions for yourself. The continual process of growing and becoming better will help you to live a fulfilled life in many aspects. All it takes is believing in tomorrow and making sure you do all you can today. Aim for the future, but never forget to live and experience “this moment” fully and truly.
Until then,
