In this blog, I want to speak with you about your dream. I want you to learn how to avoid self-doubt in order to overcome any obstacles you may encounter and become victorious in your efforts for the life you envision. Dare to dream, my friends! The possibilities that await you are endless. What are you waiting for? There is no perfect time for you to start your journey to your best life. What matters the most is that you make moves toward the achievement of your dream. What you dream about can become a reality. No matter how outlandish and far-fetched your dreams may seem – you can achieve them.
Your dream starts when you are young. How does it feel to be young? No bills or no worries, right? Wrong! When we are young, we have our own battles to fight. Children have different types of stress. They are experiencing things for the first time and are blind to the world and the magnitude they can have on it. This is where dreams can start to bloom or whither. Regardless, if your dream wilted when you were younger, you can replant that dream to grow into something beautiful.
When I was young, my dream or ambition was to be a lawyer so I could make a ton of money. Well, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I am not a lawyer, but neither would I want to be. As you grow up, you mature, and so should your dream. You can continue to live in a fantasy world where everything is good and goes your way. Where would that get you? Well, it would get you exactly where you wanted to be, but are you happy there? This is happening so often in our times where students go through schooling all the way up to the college level. These students graduate with a degree that doesn’t fit their dream.
Your dreams and talents are yours to follow. I was gifted with many talents in my life, and I know that I do not utilize them each day. Regardless of not focusing on all my talents, I make sure to dream big. I do not settle for just enough or OK. I want the most I can get out of me each day. I know what I am capable of, and I make sure to get what was meant to be mine. My dream was meant to be dreamt and achieved. What does it take to dream and get there?
Your dream is something that comes to you when you look from the inside out. You might see a problem or need in the world and want to be the solution. Regardless of how your dream and ambition came to you, it is important that you take action toward it. It is so important that you keep your dream alive with the belief that one day it will come true. If you wake up and do not believe your dream or ambition is possible, then your motivation towards that dream/goal will not be reached. You have to aim for the things you want in life and keep aiming until you hit the mark.
The world is filled with dream killers. The biggest dream killer is oftentimes yourself. You might have been told at some point in your life, “no,” “It’s not possible, “It can’t be done,” or “You’re trying to do what? Lol.”. Regardless of what is said about you or your dream, you are the one who is in charge of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I speak with many of my clients on this matter, and it can be challenging to realize that initially. I know I have been down and out and wanted to sleep an entire day away. I wanted to stay in a dark room at times and eat bad foods that would not serve me. I would hear the voice in my head to be great/amazing and try my hardest to ignore it. These moments were like painting over the holes in my walls, hoping it would cover them. Sadly, paint is not meant to repair your holes. I had to want to fix my problems and not let them define me.
Now that I had taken the biggest disbeliever in my dreams out of the picture (me), I was able to start something great. I was able to understand my goals and purpose in life. I was able to look at all my dreams, wishes, and desires as the years went by to pinpoint my thought processes. I found out what worked for me and how to get out of that dark hole where my mind was my enemy. I wanted to shine brighter than anyone because I knew something that no one else knew. I knew my potential. I knew that the dreams I dared to dream could be mine. I knew that as long as I stayed ambitious and focused, I could get to my most desired life. All it took was for me to dream and believe in it. All it took was for me to rid my life of the people and leeches that served me no purpose.
My purpose is so defined now that I can see the tape at the finish line. My dream is happening right now. The finish line will be great, but it is not where my happiness is. My happiness is within the whole dream. Every second is cherished. Just like a good dream, I do not want this moment to end. I want it to last forever! What if you started to cherish every second of your day? What if you become more mindful of what you allow into your life? “Oh, the places you will go!” That is your imagination. The imagination that was bottled up when you were young can be liberated.
The dream killers that held you back when you were beginning to find yourself no longer have a hold on you. You decide what you want for yourself now. Begin to remember those days when you would allow your imagination to run rampant. Perhaps when you were afraid to go to sleep because you believed there was a monster under the bed or that you were the prince/princess in a castle. That type of vivid imagination can be tweaked and used for your progress toward your dreams. Instead of letting your imagination be destructive and make you believe negative things, only allow positive things to reside in your mind. Start to have a positive imagination with positive results, and watch how your life begins to steer in the direction you want it.
Knowing the direction that you want to go is simple, but steering your life in that direction can be a challenge. Your mind and other people will say that there is no point in trying to get that dream. Those are the dream killers you have to avoid. As a society, we have become numb to so many things. Violent video games and sports have made us numb to violence. The media and magazines have sold us an idea of what beauty is and made us feel uncomfortable in our own skin. Your body is your temple and the vehicle that will either send you full speed to your dream or away from it. Choose to go towards that dream regardless of how many obstacles you face.
Your dream/purpose is what wakes you up in the morning (or your dog/kids). The sweetest moments in your day are when you find time to look at your dream and feel it as if it has already come to you. No matter how outlandish and far-fetched your dreams may seem, you can achieve them. What you dream about can become a reality. What matters the most is that you make moves toward your dreams. There is no perfect time for you to start your journey to your best life, so mind as well starts now. What are you waiting for? The possibilities that await you are endless. Dare to dream, my friends, and when you do, dream big!
Until then,
