How to Change the World in 2024

As we embark on a new year, we are given a new chance to change. In a world teeming with complexities and challenges, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed about making a meaningful impact. However, the key to transforming the world lies in the power of our actions. By leading by example and embodying the values we wish to see in the world, we can inspire others to join the journey of positive change. This blog explores how our everyday choices, attitudes, behaviors, and mindsets can create a ripple effect beyond what we can imagine.

There is something to be said about the actions we put forth in our day. Last week, I spoke about the fallacy of time and how we must begin to take action today instead of delaying. The notion of time should bring us hope, but what time also brings is a constraint. However, this constraint is nothing more than indoctrinated thinking given to us at a young age. There is no doubt that there are 24 hours a day, but the constraint is that there are only 24 hours a day. How we use those 24 hours will determine if we can change our lives, let alone the world.

With notions such as changing the world, we must learn to break down that big goal into actionable steps. Even small acts like kindness are a step in the right direction to impact the world profoundly. I love the keynote speech from a Navy general who said if you want to change the world, make your bed every morning. Making your bed in the morning will not change the world, but it does something amazing to your mindset.

What you will see when you implement what we may consider the small things in life will create a chain reaction that will branch out into multiple facets of your life. Simply making our bed will initially impact us, the people around us, our communities, our country, the continent, and eventually the world. Changing the world is not an overnight process; it will come in many steps and stages, and we must know many things to reach that goal.

As I said, change should begin within us before we try to change the world outwardly. Rumi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world, and he is right. We must become the change we want to see because people will learn more from our example than from our words alone. My coaching philosophy is heavily based on me walking the walk.

As you know, I can talk about mindset, growth, personal development, success, and the latter all day, helping people reach their goals. However, I could not do that effectively if I struggled to achieve the mindset I help others attain to create consistency and discipline. That means I must have attained what people are looking for or helped people attain what others want. That will show them that getting a mindset coach comes with merit and results. However, those results will demand more accountability on our part.

If people remained consistent and disciplined for some time, success would be more readily attained. The sad truth is that it could take years of being in the right mindset to see the fruits of your labor, and only a few people want to wait that long. I like to use the metaphor of moving a mountain when trying to change the world. Can you drive a mountain? At once, probably not, but you can move a mountain one pebble, stone, or rock at a time. Eventually, you will have moved a mountain, but the process takes time and dedication. This is something that needs to be improved in the mindset of the world populace today.

In a world of instant gratification, we must embrace the beauty of time and gradual progression. Life is about the journey, not the destination. However, many people think that success should come without failure and hardship. I wonder why people will sit in their circumstances and expect a change to fall in their laps. Yes, it is possible, but highly unlikely. A person would be better off going out and fighting for their place at the top. Though our world is taking more of a pacifist and bystander approach, some people know that if they want something, they are the people who have to go for it.

Being a leader or a hero today may have different definitions depending on the person and their mindset. However, leading by example involves aligning our actions with our values, which we believe to be our truth. For example, if you care about the environment, embrace sustainable living practices by recycling, reducing carbon footprint, and supporting eco-friendly initiatives. If you care about your country, voice your political woes with government officials and lawmakers to make changes in laws, systems, or policies.

However, none of the above can happen by thinking alone. Sometimes, words can only go so far. Actions, on the other hand, carry immense weight. Whether volunteering for a cause we’re passionate about, starting a community project, or supporting a social initiative, these tangible efforts inspire others to take action and contribute to the common good. This will begin to bring about more change in both our lives and around us.

Changing the world will require a huge amount of learning, so it will be important to acknowledge others who have positively impacted the world. This process will be twofold because it will encourage us and others to improve. After all, we now have a goalpost continuously. The issue with walking the unbeaten trail is that our moves will be slow, and we could make a mistake that could cost us time or our total effort toward the goal.

These setbacks will happen when we walk alone, but when we have a guidepost from people who have changed the world, we will better understand the direction in which we want to embark. In our world today, we have made great technological advancements that can speed up the process of changing the world. For example, if you need to fly worldwide, you can do that with a plane ticket, but 300 years ago, you would be confined to a horse-drawn wagon. Travel would take substantially more time, so today, we have the vehicle to move faster and go farther, but our mindset must be primed to go the distance and take meaningful action.

Changing the world by example is a testament to the incredible power of human influence. By embodying the mindset of action and learning from others, we can give ourselves a start filled with momentum. Remember that our efforts, no matter how small, carry the potential to make a lasting impact on the world. So, let us lead with the mission forefront, find purpose and meaning, and create a world that reflects the best of humanity.
