I think you can agree that the year 2020 has been a crazy one. There has been uncertainty around each corner of this year, and that has caused many people to lose hope. They have lost hope in the system, structure, and blueprint of what they are and will be. This has caused many problems to arise in our society, where many people are looking for a change. However, many people are not in the same mindset when it comes to change. I would say we are cut right down the middle, with one group of people seeking one dream and the other group seeking the opposite. What this has done is cause division within the people and make it difficult to find common ground. In this blog, I want to talk about that division and what it would mean to unify the world again.
The division of people has long been in our culture for as long as history books go back. The poor are pitted against the wealthy and judged by their worth, religion, and culture. Comparing yourself to another person in any facet provides no positive benefit for either party. What is learned from this behavior, in the end, is hatred for the other individual. This is to the extent people hurt people to get what they lack or desire. This further causes division in society, and eventually, that bubble will burst. Whether it be with fire or bloodshed, a purge is among us because the division of people has hit an all-time high. What needs to be done is to understand our current reality and start to make the necessary changes.
The changes currently being sought after are political reform and racial equality. The division for these areas has always been present in our society, but a point has come where people want to seek change. They want their fair share in society, so this has caused unrest in the world. This division, mixed with a pandemic, has caused many people to choose a side to fight for. You will not find many people in the middle of both sides because our beliefs and opinions have become so self-centered that we will do what we think is best for us. Now, this type of opinion or self-entitlement has caused riots, bloodshed, and hate among our brothers and sisters. What needs to be done to rectify this matter is to reevaluate our values.
Our values have changed over the years, and that has caused the discrepancy we are currently facing. However, there are many areas we have grown together as a society with a common goal in mind growth. We have the freedom to choose what we want in our life. However, it seems that the system is pitted against us in many areas limiting our growth and ambition. This growth that is available to everyone is not so easily attained because there is a divide in society. That means we may have to work harder than someone who was given an opportunity. For example, if you are a minority, you may be treated differently and placed at a lower level, regardless of skills. That can make all the difference in whether you succeed or fail. It is not that you are not able to reach your goals it is just you have to go through some extra steps and prerequisites to get there.
This is where the division of the people has hit a critical mass. The saying, “the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,” has never been more prevalent to us than in 2020. We see millionaires become billionaires etc. What is needed for everyone to thrive in this current society is a base/foundation which promotes prosperity and growth. However, what is happening now is the destruction of what was built over the years to the point where we will be starting from rock bottom. Just look at how many small businesses are closing down. Even the bigger stores have felt the effect of 2020 and had to make changes. We are in a major restructuring and overhaul of society, and it has caused a void in countries around the world. The question is, how do we fill this void and create a foundation to promote unity and strength?
To promote unity in the world, we must settle our petty differences. We have to understand that this year has had a toll on everyone, and everyone is struggling too. We have to make sure that we do not place ourselves higher on a pedestal than another because of who they are. We have to learn how to honor others for all they are and will be. Doing that can be the first step to a unity that will act as the glue to repair the broken structure of our society. We have to stop boxing people into categories and start to seek change as a community of equals. We have to share a common goal of life and prosperity for all that is not easily swayed or manipulated. We have to relearn how to respect others/different beliefs even if they do not resonate with us. The unity we need is around the corner.
As the year goes on and the media continues to drown us with more negative news. Soon people will notice how much we long for a fresh breath of air. What we truly want out of life is positivity. I am not talking about being optimistic, but the fact that you want good things to come out of your life. You want to be filled with joy and happiness and share that with your loved ones. I find it hard to do that with a constant flow of negativity flowing into my ear each day. They say that one spoiled apple will ruin the whole bunch, and that is the same in our current society. Greed, selfishness, and hate have taken over the world and need to be replaced with sharing, caring, and love. Turning what we have now around will be the key that bridges the gaps between the people of the world.
The world united will be the strongest resistance we have ever known. Though there will be individuals who seek to keep things the same or inhibit future growth, we must not allow them to be the reason why we remain stagnant. The change to unite the people with a common goal must be shared and fought for. To create opportunities for people to be the best version of themselves without being an outcast or ridiculed by the current divide in society. The change that is possible is dependent on if we can learn to work together and let petty battles be forgotten. We are all unique and special in our own ways, so to compare yourself with another person or to fight a battle that has no benefit to the world as a whole should be re-looked at. We have to start to find what matters most in life, and I believe we can do that together.
The current division of the world will soon be bridged. There will come a day soon when our current beliefs and ideas will be those of prosperity for all. We will not have to argue, riot, or lie about what someone else is doing or has done. We will live in a world where the truth is prevalent, and from there, we can make the proper choices needed. The choice to change for the better and live in harmony. To create a world where no one feels inferior because of who they are. Lastly, believe in yourself and strive to be better each day so that you can be an example of the change that is needed. The current division we see was made by fear and injustice, so to counter that and create unity, we must inject hope and equality into the mix. Keeping that in mind, we can create a world united with the common goal of a people united.
Until then,
